WAS YOUR DOG INVOLVED IN A BITE INCIDENT?
DO YOU THINK AN ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER (ACO) MAY TAKE YOUR DOG?
IF YOU THINK THEY MIGHT, THEY PROBABLY WILL, AND YOU RISK NEVER SEEING HER AGAIN.
THE BEST THING TO DO IS GET YOUR DOG OUT OF TOWN BEFORE A WARRANT IS ISSUED.
IF THE ACO/POLICE CAN’T FIND AND TAKE YOUR DOG, THEY CAN’T KILL HER.
YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OBLIGATION TO TALK TO THE ACO/POLICE.
YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OBLIGATION TO HELP THEM FIND AND SEIZE YOUR DOG.
THEY WON’T TELL YOU THIS, BUT INSTEAD WILL OFTEN THREATEN, BULLY AND COERCE YOU.
THERE IS NOTHING THE ACO/POLICE CAN DO IF YOU REMOVE YOUR DOG BEFORE THEY COME TO SEIZE HIM. NOTHING AT ALL.
THEY CAN’T ARREST YOU – BUT OFTEN THEY WILL THREATEN TO DO SO.
WHEN THEY ASK “WHERE IS YOUR DOG”, UNLESS YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE HER, YOU REALLY DON’T KNOW.
TELLING THE ACO/POLICE “I DO NOT KNOW” IS NOT LYING.
NEVER LIE TO THE POLICE/ACO AND YOU WILL HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG.
YOU CAN’T BE ARRESTED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH OR FOR SAYING NOTHING.
YOU HAVE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO STAY SILENT – DO IT TO SAVE YOUR DOG.
ALWAYS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURIES YOUR DOG MAY HAVE CAUSED.
