This past Sunday, co-founder Thom Page attended an event hosted by the Western Massachusetts Animal Rights Advocates protesting against the use of animals in the Garden Bros. travelling Circus coming to the Big E Arena in Springfield, MA.
Thom has a few thoughts he wanted to share about the event:
“I spent a few hours Sunday with those in my “tribe”, at my “happy place”, and however else today’s culture would apparently describe it.
A traveling zoo is coming to the Big E Arena in Springfield, MA, and a few likeminded folks protested on the street in front of the entrance gates. There was the occasional beep of a car horn, a wave here and there, smiles and thumbs up, and the strained looks of passersby reading our posters – all signs we were having an impact on how humans should treat the others we share this world with.
It’s really quite simple: Nobody deserves to be permanently ripped from their homes and family for a despicable and tortured life being entertainment for someone else, in a traveling zoo no less.
Communion with these warm-hearted souls and our leader for the day, Bobby, is something I cherish.
I couldn’t have had a more fulfilling afternoon standing up against what will someday be seen as another scar on our humanity.”
The Center For Animal Litigation seeks to educate and advocate for the ethical and humane treatment of all animals. We hope that one day people everywhere will entirely stop using animals for entertainment, although it is currently readily accepted as being “normal” or “fun.”
“If you really care about animals, then stop trying to figure out how to exploit them ‘compassionately’. Just stop exploiting them.”
